Indoor Team Building Activities For Employees

Indoor team building activities for employees are group games and exercises that take place inside. For example, game tournaments, murder mysteries, board games, scavenger hunts, escape rooms and many more. These activities enable team bonding for employees and small and large groups at work no matter the weather!

All you really need is a large events venue for your corporate event which will provide you and your team with insights on how well your employees work well with each other.

The Benefits of Indoor Team Building Activities in the Workplace

Indoor team building activities for employees are a great way to improve teamwork and for boosting team performance, as well as the perfect ice breaker for your team members. Team building activities have the ability to strengthen the bonds within the workplace and the projects that involve teamwork as the team have a better understanding of how each other works and help to get individuals out of their comfort zones.

After completing team building activities together, employees are able to get a better understanding of one another’s strengths, weaknesses and interests.

Effective indoor team building activities can lead to more engaged employees, which is beneficial for company culture and eventually boosting your bottom line. This is also an exciting and enjoyable event for your employees, building trust, improving mental and physical health, encouraging creativity, increasing productivity, and improving communication skills within the workplace as well as many other benefits.

5 Indoor Team Building Activities

1. 3 Truths and a Lie

This is a great indoor team building activity for employees to get to know one another. Each individual gets the opportunity to present themselves to the rest of the group, offering four personal statements to everyone, three of which are true and one is false.

This is a fantastic indoor team building activity game to help everyone become acquainted with one another, helping the quieter individuals of the group create a relationship with the others. It also allows the other participants to learn a bit about themselves as well as others based on lies they believed to be true.

2. Plane Crash

In this team-building indoor activity, you will imagine that your group was in a plane crash and are now stranded on a deserted island. The group must choose 12 items that can be found in the building that they believe to be the most useful to ensure they survive.

This indoor activity focuses on teamwork and collaboration and creative problem solving. They may very likely have to make do with items they wouldn’t pick, so creativity is rewarded.

3. Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts are the ideal indoor team building games to encourage creativity and enjoyment within the workplace. Small groups should be made to create teams that work together with the common goal of finding the objective or answers needed from their scavenger hunt list.

A  time limit should be given for the groups to find as many objects and answers as they can. This indoor team building activity may be difficult for some individuals but others may find it easy.

This indoor team building exercise encourages teamwork. Once the game has been completed everyone will be reminded of different work and event procedures. Those procedures will have been incorporated in their lists for answers or items to find. A scavenger hunt is a great way for new employees to get to know the office that they will be working with.

4. Group Timeline

For this indoor activity, teams will need to create a large timeline on a whiteboard or a sheet of paper and make a mark at the beginning of the timeline back to when the oldest participant in the group was born or started with the business and when it was originated. Then begin to mark any milestones for the business, for example, anniversaries, or dates that mark success.

Next, you will need to allow each individual to mark four important moments for them on the timeline. Once completed, it will show a visual representation of your whole team and their experiences. This allows all of the participants to get a brief understanding of one another and their cultural differences, providing an opportunity for discussion about general differences and similarities.

5. Charades

Charades is a traditional indoor team building game that many will know. This old school game can be used in a workplace setting for enjoyable team building, encouraging everyone to get involved.

Before you play you will need to pick several categories and write them on separate envelopes. Get your team thinking of 5-6 items or words for each category and write them done. Then separate people into two teams, each team will take a turn and send out a representative to act out the items in the category.

The actor cannot speak or draw any words whilst your team members try to guess the item. If the group guess the name of the item they get a point for each answer, and the highest point wins.

If your employees are working traditional 9 to 5 hours then they probably are spending more time with their co-workers than their own friends and family. This is why it is highly important for all of your colleagues to be working well together and focusing on objectives.

Even in the colder months and the bad weather team building for your employees still remains important. In order to cultivate a team that supports each other through and through, you’ll need to reinforce relationships with effective indoor team building activities.
